It’s a bite-sized racing game with a lot of heart that fans will devour. Personally, I appreciate the smaller spinoff Kirby games as much as the mainline entries, and Kirby’s Dream Buffet does not disappoint.

It might lack the depth and variation of other party games of similar ilk such as Fall Guys,but it’s hard to fault its simplicity. It provides a family-friendly palette cleanser that is easy to learn and charmingly tender in its presentation. While nothing groundbreaking, Kirby’s Dream Buffet is like a macaron – bite-sized, sweet and colourful, but best enjoyed in small servings. Not every game has to be an epic journey! Sometimes it’s nice to just have one slice of cake. Overall, Kirby’s Dream Buffet is delightful, and makes me hopeful that more mid-tier games starring Nintendo’s biggest names could make their way into the eShop in the future. With a gorgeous culinary theme and stellar presentation, alongside plenty of great rewards to unlock, Dream Buffet will keep players coming back for several helpings for the foreseeable. While a little lacking in content and options, Kirby’s Dream Buffet is a hilarious and satisfyingly silly game that balances its gameplay nicely between moments of skill and utter mayhem.
